When a Seattle family moves to New Orleans and rents a house in the French Quarter, the teenage son quickly realizes this residence is haunted by its original inhabitants--Le Gens de Couleur--free people of color, who experienced great tragedy in 1803 on the eve of the Louisiana Purchase.
