The VCU Department of Theatre offers two undergraduate paths of study. Our BFA degree offers students pre-professional training in the fields of performance, costume design. scenic design, lighting design, and stage management. Our BA degree combines theatre with liberal arts and allows students to explore a minor in another subject, or a directed course of study in various disciplines from directing, playwriting, or theatre management. Our MFA degrees are offered in theatre performance pedagogy and costume design. Our students have opportunities to work regionally, nationally, or on our two stages. Our faculty work on Broadway, nationally, and internationally, and our students have opportunities to work with guest artists at the top of their fields. Performance students get the opportunity to participate in a senior showcase in New York, LA for managers, directors, and casting agents, and design tech students participate in professional portfolio reviews with top industry professionals.
